Top Posts For August 2014

Summer is wrapping up, and fall is near. Football season has begun, and the high school stadium is pretty busy on Friday nights. Soon there will be a chill in the air, and a bit of frost on the ground. I’m looking forward to it!

With the fall comes my annual trip to Colorado to spend a few days with several other men in ministry reconnecting with God. This is an event that I absolutely love, called Wilderness. It provides one of the greatest spiritual catalysts for me each year, and I won’t miss it. This is my sixth year to attend, and I’m really looking forward to it.

With fall around the corner, that means that the kids are back in school, and the craziness of summer has ended. My daughter is playing high school volleyball again, so I’m helping out with that in any way that I can. That usually includes announcing the starting lineups, standing as a line judge, and occasionally running the score board and clock.

Also, in case you hadn’t heard, we are expecting again. This one will be our seventh child, and is due at the end of February. That means that our schedule is becoming increasingly packed, with doctor visits on a regular basis. With our already large family, there is never a dull moment around our house.

In case you missed them, here are my top seven posts for the month of August:

  1. 6 Characteristics Of A Good Communicator
  2. The Difference Between Purpose, Vision, and Mission
  3. How To Take Notes While Reading The Bible
  4. 4 Negative Results Of Jealousy
  5. Why You Need To Develop A Philosophy Of Ministry
  6. Trying A New Bible Reading System
  7. 4 Strategies For Making A Daily Routine Stick

This list is almost an exact duplicate of last month’s list, with the exception of the last post. Otherwise, it stayed exactly the same. This list is a mix of both older content, and some that is more recent. Several are from the Foundations of Youth Ministry series, and my posts on Bible reading made the list as well.

I’ve been trying to build my online presence by focusing on a few things: writing content that is quality and timeless; building my reader base; and building my email subscription base. If you haven’t signed up to receive each of my posts in your inbox, you can do so here. I would greatly appreciate it!

In the meantime, here are my seven most recent posts, not including the Coffee Break posts, or the series on memorizing 2 Timothy:

  1. Classic Bible: My Favorite Passages From Ezra – Bible
  2. 5 Reasons To Hand Copy God’s Word – Growth
  3. Top 5 Photography Apps – Resources
  4. Book Review: The Confession by Robert Whitlow – Reviews
  5. Book Review: 1 Samuel For You by Tim Chester – Reviews
  6. Book Review: A Deadly Business by Lis Wiehl – Reviews
  7. Book Review: Strange Glory by Charles Marsh – Reviews

My favorite post from August was 5 Reasons To Hand Copy God’s Word. This has proven to be a discipline that has helped me grow like no other. I find that, because I am writing instead of reading, I assimilate much more of what I’m taking in. I am really excited about how this discipline has taught me more about God’s Word than I’ve ever gained before. Currently, I’m about to finish the gospel of John. My next book will be Acts.

Fall is just around the corner, and I’m looking forward to what comes with it. I hope you are as well.

Have a great month!
