The Israeli Solution, however, is different.

This book takes a deeper look at the nation of Israel and the Middle Eastern conflict, in which Israel plays a prominent role.

The author, Caroline B. Glick, takes a deep look at what may be the solution for peace in the Middle East. The major source of conflict seems to revolve around the relationship between Israel and the Palestinians.

Most of the solutions offered over the past couple of decades involve a two state plan, establishing an official state for Palestine. The track record for this shows that it really won’t work. It hasn’t, and it shows no signs of working in the near future.

This is mostly due to the fact that Palestine is committed to the destruction of Israel, along with much of the Muslim world.

Glick has an interesting suggestion for a solution. Her proposal involves keeping everything in one state. With the better government and living arrangements that are in place under Israeli rule, most of the Palestinians, outside of the terrorist organizations, seem to be in favor of this.

In The Israeli Solution, Glick covers first some history of the region, and sets up the need and circumstances in the Middle East. In the second part, she introduces her plan, and covers it in detail. Finally, she examines the probable responses of the Middle East, Arab nations, Europe and the US.

There is only one glaring omission to this plan. Israel plays a prominent role in biblical prophecy. This foreshadowing of the future has been a key aspect of much of Israel’s past, and is critical to its future. This means that any peace plans, or anything else concerning Israel for that matter, must take into account the Jewish historical setting as well as the prophetic statements found in the Old Testament. Failure to take this into account is the one thing that Glick has missed in The Israeli Solution.

However, I found her plan intriguing, and the details that she laid out kept my attention pretty easily. She’s on to something here, and if she can factor in the prophetic element, she may have created a plan that has some potential for success in the near future.

I think it bears more study, especially by our government.
