Fall has begun, and with it comes the busy season gearing up to the holidays. And I know you’re excited to read that statement. But it’s true, Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner.

There is still plenty of time to get your Christmas shopping done though. After all, October is just beginning. October is probably one of my favorite months. The trees are changing color, the mornings are cooler, with a bit of a bite to them. And I get to go to Colorado every year at this time.

In fact, I am there now, as this is being posted, enjoying the scenic Rocky Mountains. Along with the beauty found in the Ozark Mountains, the Rockies are one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to. I love the mountains, and look forward to spending time there each year at a ministers’ retreat called CIY Wilderness.

While I continue to enjoy the scenery, you enjoy the top seven posts for the month of September:

CIY Wilderness

Wilderness LogoThis week will be a slow week around JeffRandleman.com. I am headed to Bear Trap Ranch, outside of Colorado Springs for CIY Wilderness. I’m looking forward to the week in the mountains, and the renewal that will happen in my spirit. Since I’ll be out of the normal routine, there will only be a minimal amount of activity here. My normal, weekly posts will appear as scheduled, including the Saturday Quote, Sunday’s Memorize Scripture, and Monday’s Coffee Break.

Normal activity will resume next week.

Keep me in your prayers for the week, as I seek to listen closely to God and refresh my spirit. Pray that I return renewed and ready to tackle the challenges of ministry for the coming months.

How Is Coffee Decaffeinated? – I told a friend one time that decaffeinated coffee is made from the dirt surrounding a coffee bush. He believed me. But how is it really achieved? Here is a brief look at the process.

Shaped By Time – Time lapse photography is quickly becoming one of my favorite formats. Especially when it involves such spectacular landscapes as this short film does. Stunning imagery.

16 Of The Most Amazing Trees In The World – Also in the category of stunning landscape photography is this collection of trees. These are some beautiful examples of God’s creativity as well.

Do You Hate To Wait? – Delayed gratification is something that we largely have forgotten about in our culture. We hate to wait. But waiting and patience has its benefits. This article gives some great perspective on what to do when we have to wait.

Memorize Scripture: Introduction To Titus

Titus is the final letter in the collection called the Pastoral Epistles of Paul. Similar in design and purpose to the two letters to Timothy, Titus is a letter written to a young man in ministry who needed some encouragement and guidance as he struggled to be the leader of a church that faced some unique issues and problems.

The Isle of Crete

The letter is named for the recipient, a young man named Titus, who is mentioned in the New Testament more than a dozen times, mostly in 2 Corinthians, who was serving on the island of Crete.

Author Of Titus

The author of this letter is Paul, and is stated so at the very beginning of the letter. This fact is virtually uncontested, and has been held throughout the centuries.

Date and Occasion

When Paul wrote Titus, he was either in Nicopolis, or on his way there. He planned to spend the winter there (Titus 3:12), and sent this letter to Titus during that same time frame. Titus had been left in Crete to lead the church that Paul had started there. This would place the letter somewhere around AD 62-64, after Paul had been released from his first imprisonment (Acts 28:30), but before his second imprisonment when he wrote 2 Timothy.

Top 5 Game Apps

Sometimes you just need to have some downtime. Occasionally, you need to take a break from taxing your mind and focusing on the task at hand and giving your brain a break. Once in a while, you need to do something mindless.

Games Apps

When those times happen, I have a few apps and games I turn to. These help me to break the monotony of work, and give my mind a break for a few minutes. This helps me to return to my focus with a renewed vigor. It helps me stay more focused on the things that need to be accomplished.

Each of these are used primarily on my iPhone 5s, but several of them cross the bridge to my iPad as well. Some I utilize on either device, others are used only on one or the other.

My Top 5 (6) Game Apps

Angry Birds

Of course, the list would start off with the Angry Birds franchise. Over the course of time, I’ve tried about all of the games that Rovio offers. I come back to a few solid stand-bys, though: the original, Seasons, and Star Wars. Angry Birds is free in the App Store. The others are currently priced at $.99.
