Top Posts For September 2014

Fall has begun, and with it comes the busy season gearing up to the holidays. And I know you’re excited to read that statement. But it’s true, Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner.

There is still plenty of time to get your Christmas shopping done though. After all, October is just beginning. October is probably one of my favorite months. The trees are changing color, the mornings are cooler, with a bit of a bite to them. And I get to go to Colorado every year at this time.

In fact, I am there now, as this is being posted, enjoying the scenic Rocky Mountains. Along with the beauty found in the Ozark Mountains, the Rockies are one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to. I love the mountains, and look forward to spending time there each year at a ministers’ retreat called CIY Wilderness.

While I continue to enjoy the scenery, you enjoy the top seven posts for the month of September:

  1. 6 Characteristics Of A Good Communicator
  2. The Difference Between Purpose, Vision, and Mission
  3. How To Take Notes While Reading The Bible
  4. Why You Need To Develop A Philosophy Of Ministry
  5. 3 Characteristics Of A Bad Communicator
  6. 7 Steps To Defining A Purpose And Vision For Youth Ministry
  7. Trying A New Bible Reading System

This month’s list falls easily into three categories: some of these are from the Foundations Of Youth Ministry series, others are from my series on communicating, and the rest are on the topic of Bible reading. Rarely does my list divide up so nicely.

The past couple of months have been pretty hectic for my family, and as a result, I’ve been able to write less than I’d prefer. Hopefully, that has come to an end, and I can spend more time with my computer. On a related note, I also bought an old Royal Quiet Deluxe typewriter from 1954. I plan to do some writing with that as well, but it obviously won’t be for the blog.

In case you missed them, here are my seven most recent posts, not including the Coffee Break posts, or the series on memorizing 2 Timothy or Titus.

  1. Top 5 Game Apps – Resources
  2. How Wilderness Uses Solitude To Seek God – Growth
  3. Book Review: Pilgrim’s Wilderness by Tom Kizzia – Reviews
  4. Taking Advantage Of Divine Appointments – Growth
  5. Book Review: MindWar by Andrew Klavan – Reviews
  6. Book Review: Portraits Of Creation – Reviews
  7. Book Review: C. S. Lewis And Mere Christianity by Paul McCusker – Reviews

My favorite post from September was How Wilderness Uses Solitude To Seek God. I wrote this post in anticipation of my trip to Colorado, and based upon past experience. I’ve found solitude to be one of the more effective spiritual disciplines in my life.

With fall in full swing, I’m looking forward to what is coming around the bend.

Have a great month!
