Top Posts For October 2014

In last month’s Top Posts, I stated that the fall was gearing up to be a busy season. I had no idea how true that would turn out to be, just not in the way I expected it.

As we enter into the fall, our busy season has dramatically increased. First, our Worship and Children’s Minister resigned. That has caused our church’s leadership to scramble a bit as we seek to ensure that the transition flows smoothly, and as we begin the process of looking for someone to fill those roles.

As a result, we’ve been meeting weekly to discuss, plan and pray. We’ve been busy.

And then, just over a week ago, my wife slipped down the stairs in our home, breaking her ankle. Thankfully, the baby is ok and there are no complications to the pregnancy. However, Heather’s ankle didn’t fare so well. It’s not a very good break (what one is?), and she has to stay off of it for several weeks. That is difficult for her to do, because she’s a busy mother. She has a hard time just “sitting around.”

That has added to our busy, stressful fall.

As a result, it has been a bit difficult to accomplish everything that I want to accomplish. I’ve had to really focus on the top priorities and set aside a few things onto a back burner for a time. Hopefully, though, things will smooth out soon. But that means that my posting schedule has taken a hit. I’m truly sorry about that, but I’m thankful that you’ve stayed with me along the way.

With that in mind, here are the top seven posts for the month of October:

  1. 6 Characteristics Of A Good Communicator
  2. The Difference Between Purpose, Vision, and Mission
  3. How To Take Notes While Reading The Bible
  4. Why You Need To Develop A Philosophy Of Ministry
  5. Trying A New Bible Reading System
  6. My Current Philosophy Of Ministry
  7. Book Review – Sacred Pathways by Gary Thomas

Each of these have made their way onto this list before, many stay here. These are all posts that seem to be standing the test of time, including posts from the Foundations Of Youth Ministry series, and from my short series on communication.

Also, in case you missed them, here are my seven most recent posts, not including the Coffee Break posts, or the series on memorizing 2 Timothy or Titus.

  1. Book Review: Noah by Mark Lundy – Reviews
  2. Thankfulness And A Broken Ankle – Growth
  3. Book Review: Playing Saint by Zachary Bartels – Reviews
  4. Book Review: A Spy Among Friends by Ben Macintyre – Reviews
  5. 5 Benefits Of Reading Quality Books – Growth
  6. Making A Covenant With My Eyes – Growth
  7. Top 5 Game Apps – Resources

One of these posts, Making A Covenant With My Eyes is the result of a new partnership I have with Covenant Eyes, an internet accountability software that helps men and women stand strong against the temptations of pornography. After reading the post, check out this page for more information.

My favorite post from October was 5 Benefits Of Reading Quality Books. As you can see, several of my most recent posts are book reviews, so I’ve been reading a lot over the past month. The benefits of choosing quality books to take in can impact our spiritual lives in ways we can’t even see. This has definitely been a helpful discipline in my own life.

I’m looking forward to the next couple of months, even with the added stress we’ve seen recently. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we move forward.

Have a great month!
